Conscious Birthing

The Conscious Birthing looks at first glance to be a fairly standard brochure website. However, behind the scenes, it uses the same database-driven content management that powers almost all of our websites.

The theme itself is CSS / XHTML taking advantage of alpha-channel PNG rollovers with a graceful fallback mechanicsm (JPG based rollovers) for legacy browser support.

As well as providing detailed information about all of the services the conscious birthing team have to offer, the site needs to display a list of upcoming events with a ICAL subscription calendar and RSS.

Finally, there is a forum allowing mothers and fathers-to-be to discuss conscious birthing topics with others.

Organisation Background: 

Kate has been involved with the process of pregnancy and birth since 1994, when she had her first child. The experience was so immense and utterly life changing that through it, her passion for this phase of life was initiated.

Shortly after, friends began to request Kates' presence at their births, and by the time she qualified as a Doula in 1998 with Michel Odent, she had already attended five home births.

In the years since, 'In Good Hands' Doula practice has evolved and Kate continues to work closely with pregnant and birthing women and their families, whilst facilitating holistic pregancy and childbirth workshops and retreats for groups.
